The Alvord Hot Springs is a roadside shack made from galvanized metal and two cement tanks set between the Alvord Desert and Steens Mountain. The sulfur spring is more than 170 degrees at its source but after it flows down a small stream and through a pipe it cools to somewhere beetween 105 and 112 degrees depending on the weather and mother earth.
