Army Honor Guard hold the flag of Private 1st Class Tan Quoc Ngo, is moved for the ceremony Friday, September 5, 2008 at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Ore. Private 1st Class (PFC) Tan Ngo was conducting a vehicle patrol on August 27, 2008 in Kandahar, Afghanistan when he encountered small arms fire and rocket propelled grenade fire. He died at the scene from small arms fire. Ngo was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment based in Hohenfels, Germany. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in October 2007 and had been in Afghanistan two months at the time of his death.
